Made in the sixth century and kept for most of its life in Berat. Only seven purple codices survive anywhere in the world, and Albania holds two of them. The other five are in Italy (two), France, England and Greece.
It was hidden during the Second World War, hidden again under the atheist campaign, and is now held by the National Archives in Tirana.
