Bjeshkët e Nemuna, the Accursed Mountains, hold Theth and Valbona and the pass between them, now one of the most-walked trails in the Balkans.

Lake Ohrid, shared with North Macedonia, is among the oldest lakes on earth and holds more than 200 endemic species, 73.5% of its freshwater gastropods live nowhere else.

The Vjosa runs 190 km of its 270 km course through Albania without a single dam, and on 15 March 2023 became Europe's first Wild River National Park, 12,727 ha, 1,100+ recorded species.

Also: the Blue Eye (Syri i Kaltër) spring, the Llogara pass, the Karaburun to Sazan marine park, and the Ancient and Primeval Beech Forests at Gashi and Rrajca (UNESCO 2017).
